What happens when you take a scuba diver who loves the deep waters and let him or her become creative with their equipment? Some new ideas could emerge to make your diving experience even better.
That’s what happened when we founded Scubacool, the opportunity to provide diving enthusiasts with access to the best scuba diving cylinder covers ever, so that you can quickly and easy customise your scuba diving tank or cylinder.
We have been diving for a number of years now and, as with many other people, we fell in love with it straight away! Can diving be beaten as something fun to do with great people? Just after qualifying, we were having our new cylinders refilled when we noticed that all the cylinders looked the same, plain and boring. We suddenly realized that there was no way to easily and quickly identify our cylinders. No way of saying I’m different. No way of showing who you really are. And thus the story of Scubacool was born and the birth of an imaginative way to decorate your dive cylinder. Take a standard design or customise it with your own, Your Imagination is Your Limitation!
- What if someone inadvertently takes our cylinder by accident?
- What if the school, club or shop thought our cylinder was theirs?
- How could you prove your scuba diving cylinder was yours?
- How can we prevent any awkward or embarrassing mix-ups?
- Underwater, everyone, even my dive buddy looks the same!
- Take a group picture underwater and everyone looks the same!
We tried all sorts of different things to identify our cylinders, to make them look more personalised and cool.

These are some of the commonly available scuba diving cylinder cover options we tried and ultimately just did not work!
Mesh Net
Not so great. Mine slipped during a dive. They do not handle the abuse of the dive boat well, easily splitting and ours became worn and broken after a couple of dives, and even become brittle.
Neoprene
They add buoyancy, slip, wore out quickly and were, frankly, boring.
Paint & Powder Coating
Wow, what a nightmare. Firstly, painting a scuba cylinder is something for the professionals (or at least someone who knows what they are doing) and is NOT cheap. We were quoted around 120+ GBP. So we painted our cylinders ourselves (with non-toxic paints). The paint would come off after just one dive, and chipped and scratched after a couple of dives. We’re also no artists so getting our cylinders to look ‘cool’ was just not going to happen by our hands! And certainly not Scubacool cool.
Stickers
We met all kinds of problems with stickers. They rubbed off and peeled off. Got bleached in the sun and left a sticky residue when we had to take them off to get our cylinders serviced/inspected. *Scubacool are able to offer EU approved gas labels included on the design of your image. So no need for those big stickers some dive shops and other companies slap on to your cylinder with their branding all over your cylinder, and they too have a tendency to come off.
Ask Yourself
What if there was an easy way to customise my cylinder with a really great design, change it when I want to, display all the test/hydro stamps for refills and remove it in seconds for inspections and refit after?
